TOP 10 SONGS OF 2010

2010 was a GREAT year for music. So much stuff came out and I was overwhelmed. I listened to so much old and new music. The list of my top 10 songs are purely my opinion. I rate the song on lyrics, productions, meaning, connection and replay value. In the beginning I decided to make it 100 but when I started  creating the list it was extremely long and I put more thought into the top songs then the lower ones. I’m really trying hard not to use the same artist repeatedly and trying to think outside the box. It’s really hard. 3 out of my Top 5 Artists released new stuff this year and don’t be surprised if you only see them, but here is the final list. With all my effort and thought it is time to start from #10 to #1

*Honorable Mention: It Won’t be Long - J. Cole

Show my mama I can stand on my own..”

This song isn’t a final mix yet and will be coming out next year on this debut album. But this song means the world to me. It made me really tear up listening to it. It’s basically a story of him trying to make it out of bad times. I feel J. Cole on this one. He has a connection to his mom like me. He’s not afraid of showing love for his mother in a song. I admire that. He reminds me of Kanye. If it was an actually final mix of the song it would probably be #4 on this list. I love this song. It will definitely be on the list next year for 2011.

10) Memories - Big Sean

They sayin the sky’s the limit. How bitch? I’m moon walking

At first I really didn’t expect to put this song on here cause this was a last minute add on. Then I thought about all the things that will be changing in the upcoming year. I have to remember all the good times and where I’m from. This is my favorite Big Sean song and probably shouldn’t be on this list but fuck it.

9) Mojo So Dope - KiD CuDi

Give a fuck about ya lifestyle.

This song is incredible. It’s so catchy and you can just vibe to it. The production Emile put into is insane. The lyrics aren’t really there but his subject matter is one I can connect to. Just forgetting the world and who cares about someone’s opinion or lifestyle. Just fuck it.

8) Friday Night Lights Intro/Too Deep for the Intro - J. Cole

An ill ass nigga who just happened to stay in school.”

I’ve been following J. Cole for more than a year now and seeing him grow as a artist has been amazing. He has come so far. When I listen to him sometimes I can completely relate to him. It’s like him rapping the story for me. Too Deep for the Intro is one of those songs. I can relate to his struggles in school, struggles with girls, struggles with trying to make it. He got dreams he wants to fulfill. I feel the exact same way. This song beat out Villematic, Premeditated Murder, and Before I’m Gone for the number #8 spot. It wasn’t a easy choice.

7) Devil in a New Dress - Kanye West

The way you look should be a sin. You’re my sensation.“

To all the bad chicks out there, this song is for you. I was very surprised when I found out Kanye didn’t produce this one. Bink did a good ass job. The guitar solo during the middle of the song is incredible. Just pushing hip-hop to another level. Ross didn’t do a bad job either with his verse. One of my favorite’s off the album.

6) Who Dat - J. Cole

“…It’s that nigga you’ve been waiting for.

J. Cole just out does himself sometimes. I can’t explain it. First off the beat is hard as hell. Props to Cole and Elite working on this one. J. Cole is about to blow up for real now and he’s letting everyone know he’s about to take the game. He’s about to be on top of the throne with Jay-Z. This dude is just insane. Legend in the making.

5) Blame Game - Kanye West

Yeezy taught me.

This song means a lot to me. For stuff I’ve been through the past year this song just perfect. Kanye tells a story of how a relationship didn’t work out in the end. The part that just amazes me when all the voices just come at you back and forth (starts at 2:30) That part was really well done. Another track Kanye produced and John Legend does a great job on the hook. Props to Chris Rock at the end too. He’ s so hilarious.

4) Lost in the World/Who Will Survive in America - Kanye West

Lost in this plastic life, Let’s break out of this fake ass party, turn this into a classic night”

The beat speaks for its self. The lyrics go hard as hell. Not much more to explain.

3) Blow Up - J. Cole

How they got these niggas on the Tv selling miracles?

This song was the shit. Still is. J. Cole goes off and tells the world he’s about to blow up.  Song is a middle finger to everyone who has doubted him. I feel like I’m about to “Blow Up” when I graduate. I’m trying to be the best and this song is made for me. J. Cole production is on point as usual. I love this song.

2) All of the Lights Interlude/ All of the Lights - Kanye West

MJ gone, our nigga dead!

This was almost the #1 song.

The production Kanye does is unheard of. Like WTF. The beat is incredible. The amount of effort put into this song is more than some albums. I love the song so much. Kanye is an incredible artist and his efforts shouldn’t go unnoticed. Good ass job ‘Ye.

1) Mr. Rager - KiD CuDi

Can we take that journey?

I first heard this song in the Bape store early this summer. It was incredible. I loved it. Kid Cudi is one of those artists that blow you away with a song like this. There are many interpretations of this song and thats what I like about it. It’s so unique. It’s a great song. Emile’s production once again is incredible. The strings make the song more emotional in a very effective way. Mr. Rager has been through a lot and so have I. I can always connect to Cudi in some shape or form. It’s my song of the year.

Video

So old.

Sex talk with Cudi.

Cudi and I think alike too much.

Peep the video. Cudi did a freestyle over this a year ago. I’ve been wanting this so bad.

I’d be so happy if Kid Cudi released a CDQ of this freestyle. *sigh*
